The war has changed all of our lives. Yet despite every hardship and challenge, the doors of our schools in Kyiv and Dnipro remain open, and our classrooms are alive with energy, curiosity, and an unwavering desire to learn. We are committed to fulfilling our mission with dedication and care — providing high-quality British education and preparing our students for a confident, independent, and successful future, both in Ukraine and anywhere in the world.

BISU is the only international school in Ukraine that has been operational from the very first day of the full-scale invasion. Not a single day without learning. Not a single moment without faith in a brighter tomorrow. We are not just maintaining high standards — we are continuing to grow, to evolve, and to inspire.

Today, we have the largest team of international teachers in Ukraine, representing the UK, the USA, Canada, and Australia. They are not teaching from a distance — they are here, in our classrooms, working directly with our students every day. They deliver the full Cambridge Pathway programme, supporting learners from their first steps in Early Years all the way through to A Level, as they prepare for university.

The BISU community stays global and strong, and our students continue to achieve outstanding results on the international stage. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. We are sharing some of these achievements with you.

Global Citizens

From primary school onwards, BISU students engage in international initiatives that connect young people from all over the world. They grow into true citizens of a global community — open-hearted, responsible, and genuinely committed to making the world a better place.

Our collaboration with leading international organisations, such as COBIS (the Council of British International Schools, where BISU is a member), opens new horizons for our students and provides invaluable experience. This is more than just communication — it is real connection, friendship without borders, and dialogue that broadens perspectives.

A vivid example is our live online exchanges with schools in the UK (London, Liverpool, Crawley, Leeds), Mexico, and Switzerland. Our students talk with peers from different corners of the globe — and through these conversations, partnership and understanding are born.

Voices Around the World

Our students have now taken part twice in Voices Around the World, an international music initiative. Each year, the organisers compose a song specifically for schools, youth groups, and students worldwide. Participants perform the piece and submit their recordings, which are then woven together into a single global video — a mosaic of cultures and voices from around the world. This year's project brings together voices from 65 countries — including ours from BISU. Our students are singing alongside the world, and Ukraine's voice is heard on the global stage.

International Educational Journeys

Even more unique opportunities await our primary school students, while older students take part in international educational trips across Europe.

This winter, our students sucessfully presented at the Model United Nations (MUN) debates in Prague. Alongside 200 students from 20 European schools, they discussed global challenges — from the climate crisis to international shipping. The BISU team’s project won near-unanimous approval from the General Assembly! Next year, our students will represent the school at a MUN conference in London.

You can read about BISU's success in an article on the Council of British International Schools platform.

Another remarkable opportunity was the summer programme at Wellington College — one of the UK’s most prestigious schools. For 10 days, our students lived and studied on campus, taking part in classes on critical thinking, public speaking, and career guidance. They also visited some of the world’s top universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, University of Bath, Imperial College, and King’s College London.

International Recognition for Student Projects

Our primary school students took part in a charity initiative organised by our Student Parliament, raising funds to support Ukrainian defenders.

Their efforts received international recognition in the Global Goals Competition 2024–2025, run by Global Social Leaders! Our students were honoured in the “Partnerships and Collaboration (Junior)” category and also earned a special award for impact and resilience. Even the youngest can make a real difference in the world — and our students are proof in action.

Global Social Leaders is an international movement that inspires young people to become socially conscious leaders and agents of change. Today, BISU students proudly stand among these emerging leaders.

The project has gained international attention —International Teacher Magazine featured an article about BISU and our students’ achievements.

Our students themselves share their experiences and reflections on this initiative, showing how even young voices can make a real impact in the world.

Our New Kindergarten at Nyvky

At BISU, we always strive to turn challenges into opportunities for growth. Last year, this spirit gave rise to an exciting new project — one we poured our hearts into.

We proudly opened Tiny Hugs, a progressive Ukrainian Kindergarten where learning stems from the Cambridge Early Years Programme and the innovative Cambridge Ready to Go approach.

Our project is thriving, and most importantly, the children are happy! They feel safe, confident, and enthusiastic as they participate in daily activities. Their bright, smiling faces are the greatest reward for us.

Towards the Future

At BISU, we always look forward — with courage, confidence, and the unwavering belief that our children’s future is worth every effort. Ahead of us are countless plans that inspire us every day, and with joy and dedication, we bring each one to life, step by step.

Once again, we warmly wish you a Happy New Year! We are always delighted to welcome you into the welcoming walls of our school — this is your home.

Here, you will find safety, care, opportunities to grow, and a team that wholeheartedly believes in your child’s potential.

Nearly three decades ago, BISU took its first steps. Today, it has grown into a vibrant, dynamic, and truly unique story — one that is being written every day, and most importantly, written together with you!
