The war has changed all of our lives. Yet despite every hardship and challenge, the doors of our schools in Kyiv and Dnipro remain open, and our classrooms are alive with energy, curiosity, and an unwavering desire to learn. We are committed to fulfilling our mission with dedication and care — providing high-quality British education and preparing our students for a confident, independent, and successful future, both in Ukraine and anywhere in the world.
BISU is the only international school in Ukraine that has been operational from the very first day of the full-scale invasion. Not a single day without learning. Not a single moment without faith in a brighter tomorrow. We are not just maintaining high standards — we are continuing to grow, to evolve, and to inspire.

Today, we have the largest team of international teachers in Ukraine, representing the UK, the USA, Canada, and Australia. They are not teaching from a distance — they are here, in our classrooms, working directly with our students every day. They deliver the full Cambridge Pathway programme, supporting learners from their first steps in Early Years all the way through to A Level, as they prepare for university.

The BISU community stays global and strong, and our students continue to achieve outstanding results on the international stage. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. We are sharing some of these achievements with you.

MUN Conference in Prague – Ukraine's Voice in Europe
This winter, our senior students took part in the Model United Nations conference in Prague — a major event organised by COBIS, the Council of British International Schools, where BISU is a proud member.
The conference brought together 200 students from 20 leading schools across Europe. Working alongside peers from different countries, our students explored some of today’s most urgent global challenges — from the climate crisis to international maritime law. They presented strong arguments, demonstrated critical thinking, and collaborated on drafting resolutions aimed at addressing real-world issues.
Their efforts led to an outstanding result: our team’s resolution received near-unanimous approval from the General Assembly. This achievement has been featured in an article published on the COBIS platform. Next year, our students will represent Ukraine and the school at the MUN debates in London!

Summer Programme at Wellington College
Nothing explains the British education system better than experiencing it first-hand. This summer, our senior students travelled to the United Kingdom to enjoy a ten-day programme at Wellington College — a prestigious school with a rich history and consistently ranked among the top 30 in the country. Students lived on campus, attended lessons, and spent time with peers from around the world.
The programme offered hands-on workshops in critical thinking, public speaking, financial literacy, career planning, interview skills, and a variety of co-curricular activities. It provided an authentic experience of life at a world-class boarding school.
Our students also visited some of the UK’s leading universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, the University of Bath, Imperial College London, and King’s College London. They returned home motivated, inspired, and enriched with invaluable experience — and with a clear sense that their future has no limits.

BISU Student Project Earns International Recognition

Members of the BISU Student Parliament — our young leaders — have won international recognition in the Global Goals Competition 2024–2025 organised by Global Social Leaders!
At the competition, our students showcased a charitable campaign supporting Ukrainian defenders, which they had independently organised and successfully implemented at school.
They received awards in the “Partnerships and Collaboration (Junior)” category, as well as a special commendation for impact and resilience.

Global Social Leaders is an international movement that inspires young people to become socially conscious leaders and agents of change. Today, BISU students proudly stand among these emerging leaders.
Their project has gained international attention —International Teacher Magazine featured an article about BISU and our students’ achievements.
Our students themselves share their experiences and reflections on this initiative, showing how even young voices can make a real impact in the world.
Global Citizens
Beyond taking part in international conferences and initiatives, our students actively communicate with peers from all around the world.
A wonderful example of this is our live online meetings with students from schools in the United Kingdom (London, Liverpool, Crawley, Leeds), Mexico, and Switzerland.
These conversations spark collaboration, mutual understanding, and truly meaningful international dialogue. It’s far more than simply exchanging ideas — it’s a chance to strengthen communication and presentation skills, form real connections, build friendships that cross borders, and engage in conversations that broaden their view of the world.
In these moments, our students grow into genuine global citizens — open-minded, responsible, and sincerely driven to make a positive difference.

Duke of Endiburgh's Award
In 2021, we became the first school in Ukraine to be invited to join the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award — the UK’s most respected youth development programme. Each year, millions of young people across the world take part in the DofE. And it’s easy to see why: it’s a powerful, proven way to invest in their future.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a powerful advantage that can make a real difference when applying to universities or starting a career.
Graduates who earn the DofE distinction stand out from the crowd, and the skills they develop — volunteering, teamwork, perseverance, and responsibility — open doors to top universities and exciting career opportunities.
Our students have already embarked on an important volunteering project as part of the DofE Award. Recently, members of the BISU Student Parliament visited a rural school outside Kyiv, to children studying in challenging circumstances, including those who are internally displaced. Our parents joined the initiative as well, donating essential items and gifts.
This volunteering visit marked the first step in a series of social projects that our students will carry out throughout the year. These initiatives not only foster empathy, responsibility, and leadership skills but also create a tangible, positive impact on the lives of others.
We are confident that our students will achieve outstanding results in the program. The experience of volunteering will serve as a valuable addition to their education and an important asset for future opportunities, including applications to international universities and their professional development.

Our New Kindergarten at Nyvky
At BISU, we always strive to turn challenges into opportunities for growth. Last year, this spirit gave rise to an exciting new project — one we poured our hearts into.
We proudly opened Tiny Hugs, a progressive Ukrainian Kindergarten where learning stems from the Cambridge Early Years Programme and the innovative Cambridge Ready to Go approach.
Our project is thriving, and most importantly, the children are happy! They feel safe, confident, and enthusiastic as they participate in daily activities. Their bright, smiling faces are the greatest reward for us.
